Mindful Art

What if we took the thinking out of art? What if we could be free to process creatively without critique, without perfectionism, without fear? With mindful art, we get a chance to do just that. We get to let go of what we think is good or bad - and just be with the creative process.

What is mindful art

Mindful art is all about being in the present moment without judgement. It’s an experience of creativity that unfolds in real time.

How do you do it?

My mindful art classes are designed in a unique way to bring us into a calm and relaxed state of mind.

We begin with a mindful practice of simple relaxation and breathing techniques to slow our thoughts down and calm our body. We connect to a source of inspiration - nature, sound, imagery, words, or feelings -

and then begin the art process. With a chosen artistic medium, we explore pacing by taking things slow or letting it out quickly. We find patterns, move freely, and are reminded to stay in the present moment by feeling the movement of the tools in your hands, hearing the sounds on your canvas or paper, and listening to your inner voice as it guides your expression.

Each class is different, all with the same purpose - to find yourself in a state of present moment awareness through artistic expression.

Who does it?

Mindful art is for anyone and everyone - including 4 year olds, 70 year olds, and everybody in between. It’s been taught at preschools, TK-12th, staff retreats, yoga studios, treatment centers, and so much more!

Why is mindful art helpful

Mindful art is meditation in motion. It's a way to calm your body and your mind. It's a tool to organize your thoughts and emotions. It's a bridge between your conscious and subconscious mind.
